EU could drop English as official tongue
English translators are worried, but French translators are rubbing hands…
Remember the hot news about Great Britain leaving the European Union? It turns out English will be dropped as an official language of EU institutions as Great Britain was the only country that voted for it though English is the official language in other countries too. Of course, France expects that French will be the official language of EU institutions as it is used as an equal working language as English. As well as German :)
By the way, this Wednesday Theresa May, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, will discuss the process of leaving the European Union with the Cabinet.
English, the world's second language and the main working tongue of EU institutions, may no longer be an official language of the European Union once Britain leaves the bloc, a senior EU lawmaker said on Monday. News source: Reuters.com
